Taxitronic, leading manufacturer of taxi meters in Spain, has reached an agreement with Itos Technology, a company specialising in mobility and payment methods, to integrate the new card payment device, PINPad BP-50CL, with the Android application for taxi drivers, Taxitronic Smart D, which is linked to taxi meters.
The incorporation of the BP-50CL will imply a series of benefits for taxi drivers, expediting the payment process and increasing customer service quality. Therefore, taxi drivers will be able to accept payments in a more convenient and reliable manner by unifying fare and payment, perform faster transactions with Contactless cards, perform transactions without errors (since it will not be necessary to enter the amount) and allow and use subscriber cards. Moreover, the card payment system will allow taxi drivers to substantially reduce cash management, thereby favouring their security.
A pilot test is currently being conducted though Radio Teléfono Taxi de Madrid (RTTM), a taxi driver association that groups together 4,000 taxis in the Community.
The new BP-50CL of the Itos® brand is characterised by its ‘mobility’, which differentiates it from other devices in the market. The terminal also offers the following features:

- Faster power-on time, in only 3 seconds.
- Efficient battery, switching to “off” mode on concluding the transaction.
- Bluetooth connection.
- Compatible with Android, Windows and iOS.
- Allows payment with Contactless, chip or magnetic stripe card and is compatible with Visa, Mastercard and AMEX systems.
More than 15,000 taxi drivers throughout Spain can immediately benefit from this agreement to expedite and unify card payments.
